April is going to be another month of daily novel revision. I have been using highlighters (in very nice muted colors, not neon ones) to mark certain things in my draft. This pass, I am focusing on the timeline of the story and everything related to backstory so I can make sure it's all consistent and the flow of the story works well.

What's your process for revision?

So when you say you're using highlighters, does that mean you're editing on a hard copy of your novel? Because that sounds awesome.

My process is pretty scattered and unhelpful to anyone but me. I edit as I go most of the time, and then once it's done, I reread it a couple of times, editing and rewriting as needed. Then I send it off to my proofreader. Once I have his edits and suggestions, I do another pass and then call it done.

It's probably not the most efficient or smartest way to work, but it's what works for me.

I am literally using highlighters on a hard copy.
