Loved Maddow's podcast, but my takeaway was different. That 40s trial dragged on so long, drained of momentum, that eventually it failed.

Also, nothing says Garland has one chance. He can indict Trump for diff crimes (insurrection, documents, campaign finance, Muller's obstructions charges). He could hit him w parallel indictments or sequential indictments.

Garland needs to get moving and quit waiting for the one perfect shot.

But I think we need to broaden our perspective:

As of now, he is the #OrangeKing of the #MAGA faction, effectively contolling the #GOP, as well as the de facto party leader.
Also, to many of the #FoxNews indoctrinated disciples, he comes close to a #messiah (there is even a book). Only god-kings or absolutist monarchs wieder more power. This is an explosive combination and #TFG has no compunction about...

Yes, maybe attacking him simultaneously would be a good idea, causing him to have a multi-front war.
But as the collapse of O.G. #Rogues sedition case shows (see my earlier response today), a) this time it will not only be 25 Congressmen involved, b) the case will not be as watertight (working at the behest of the leading foreign spy, all proven), and the #US is much more devided than during WWII.

Sorry, but Trump has no official power, just influence. Even as POTUS, he couldn't summon a mob to do more than delay certification by a few hours.

Sure, the GOP can destroy the budget process and use certain states to undermine democracy, but aren't they already?

Trump is just a citizen. We need to quit self-censoring ourselves out of fear.

Power does not need to be "official". Wielding it is enough. Any other former government official would be behind bars pending trial, after the #MarALago search. This is power (e.g.)
