So, #Finland finally joins #NATO. Perhaps the end of Finlandisation, maybe the beginning of Finlandification?

Nato's border with Russia doubles as Finland joins

@Setok many countries could do with a a bit of Finlandification. Something of dream place for me would be Frisco (+ surrounds) but with Finnish governance. But what are you thinking?
@richievk that could be a good start. #Finlandisation was framed as a negative thing (and in some ways it was), so we need a new, positive brand. Perhaps #Finlandification instead is the process of having had to be tied to oppressive regimes, but slowly opening up and becoming a full member of the open, democratic communities. Perhaps #Ukraine is going through that, maybe one day #Belarus will. Finally #Russia will need some Finlandification so we can all work together again.
@Setok @richievk, what do you mean by findlaldifisation? I hear nobody talking about getting Karelen back to Findland - by war anyway.
I don't think a restart of af 400 year old war will benefit anything.
@Nicolai_Ryge @richievk personally I am just looking at a new way of framing Finland’s story. Finlandisation was the process of having to effectively carefully suck up to a greater power. Finlandification could be something different. An escape from that past and joining the wider democratic community, which first happened through joining the EU, and now NATO.
