Years ago, I made a technical support call and the help desk person needed a serial number. Naturally, to verify she'd copied it correctly, I went over it again using the International Phonetic Alphabet.
She argued with me that Sierra starts with a 'C' because her sister's name is Cierra.
I asked her, "Have you heard of the Sierra Nevada Mountains? Go look up how that's spelled."
