Can someone explain to me like im 5 why Goose took off as a jam band these past few years vs all the other jam bands like Aqueous, Spafford, tDB, etc?

It is just Shapiro money? I honestly do not get it.

@phastenough because they write catchy and accessible songs.
@phastenough Great songwriting and vocals.
@Mdphunk but the hams feel all the same/kind of recycled.

@phastenough To you, I guess? They sound pretty fresh and unique to me.

And it's not all about the hams. Songs definitely draw in more people than jams do. Hence why Phish was never as big as the Grateful Dead.

@Mdphunk @phastenough also they're a bunch of good looking younger guys who dont just stick to the jam scene. its all in the packaging.

having said this, i dont get it though and kudos to them.

@Mdphunk what’s a good show to spin?

@phastenough I'm kind of at a stage where I don't have a very discriminating taste and love most of what they do. That's kind of a @chopaganda or @ry_storm question.

My big recommendation is to see them live, as you are going to. I didn't know much of their music when I saw them for the first time but the energy coming off the stage was insane and I had to have more of it.

@Mdphunk @phastenough @ry_storm If you don’t have Nugs, spin 12/16 Goosemas off Spotify, and start with Drive.
@Mdphunk @phastenough @chopaganda The songwriting is definitely what set them apart initially but they've been expanding their jamming styles a LOT, especially over the past year and we've seen some intentional exploratory jams from them so far this tour. Would recommend 3/8/23 as a recent show with a lot of really good jamming!

@phastenough @Mdphunk When Phish was on the rise all we heard from crabby deadheads was how they sound like this and this and this.

They were so focused on making a case that they were derivative of their influences that they missed how when you add up all those influences, it created something new.

@phastenough my dad says “it’s like Phish but i don’t have to be embarrassed when someone walks into my office”

@phastenough autotune, clearly.

Also, really good marketing and management teams. And good songs/vocals

@phastenough honestly for me they never sounded like any of the other hambands. Their lean toward dance and electronic music as opposed to southern rock or bluegrass sets them apart from a lot of others IMHO. And after that vocals are above and beyond any other.
@phastenough Songwriting and vocals. That and their shows are so much fucking fun.
