Went to order a gadget from B&H Photo and got a message saying they were closed for Shabbat. I don't think I've ever encountered this in a e-commerce store. Is it unusual or do I need to just get out more?

Wow, I've never ordered from B&H before (not sure how), but the service at B&H seems very personalized. They called me to verify the order because it was a decent amount, sent an email that they called when they couldn't reach me.

Verified over the phone w/ them that I did order it, and they said great we'll send it out today. It got to me the next day. And they've already sent a message asking for feedback.

@briankrebs Sounds like they've determined that it's better to check than to suffer chargebacks for certain orders. I'd bet that that determination has some solid numbers behind it, too. Well-oiled machine.
