One of the things that needs to go is the "Evolution of Religion" trope. It usually starts out with:
"People made up gods for things they were afraid of" and ends with either Christianity or Atheism, depending. aka The Triumph of Whiteness. It's also associated with missionary activity.

I've heard this trotted out many times in #Unitarian congregations- they should know better.

You never hear any explanation on how a "single big sky-daddy who is all-knowing and all-powerful, won't make things better, and you're too stupid to understand" is more sophisticated than #Animism or #Polytheism.
