Good morning. 🕊🕊🕊

29 March 2023

In the morning while I'm trying to think of something to write, I sit at my desk with my feet propped on one corner and have my keyboard in my lap. This morning is no different ... wait, I need another cup of coffee. Anyway, where was I ... oh keyboard. This is not the optimum position for typing and I make a lot of mistakes that I have to go back and correct ... and bingo, I thought of a subject.

When I was in high school, there was a class I took called "Office Machines." The class was mostly about typing but there were also adding machines. I don't recall whether the typewriters were manual or electric, but several years later in the Army most typewriters were manual. I didn't do well in the class but looking back through the years. it turns out that it was one of the most useful and productive courses that I took.

And ... I'm out of characters. 😢

I recommend learning to type.

@Swede1952 For many years, I typed on a manual machine using about 4 fingers & looking at the keys. Eventually got an Amstrad PCW machine (primitive), but with a training program on how to touch type. Well, I used that training program, & am so glad I did. That must have been in the later 1980s. Touch typing is one of the most valuable skills I’ve acquired. Keyboard skills are increasingly important now, for writers (such as myself) and in many other areas too.
@Swede1952 I took advanced courses in high school, but on a lark, I took a typing class my senior year. It was the most useful course I took. Because of those drills, I can type really, really fast. As a bonus, the teacher let my type my college applications in class when I convinced her it was "practical experience". Everything afterwards was so much easier.
