Oh, 1619 or so? Before it was the US.
1776 since it was the US.
"All men are created equal."
Yet the wise founders excluded women, "3/5ths people," and the poor from even being able to choose their representation in government.
Black people were definitely not part of that "...are created equal" creed.

@DebraMilazzoSha @juddlegum The right wing lost its mind in 2008 when a black man became President. It wasn't great before that, but I believe that was the breaking point.
Another, earlier big lurch toward right wing crazy was Nixon's explicitly racist "southern strategy" You could say the wheels started falling off over 60 years ago. Around the time of the actual events in the Ruby Bridges movie.
I just looked. The actual Ruby Bridges is still alive.
