I can sometimes be a “situational” extrovert where I try to be social with others and join in conversation. But it often doesn’t go well.

How about you?

@autism101 @actuallyautistic this goes ok for a short time, otherwise I end up with sensory overload.
@autism101 I'm better than i was. Still working on it though #ActuallyAutistic

@lemonflavoured @autism101 Good for you Mark.

I'm always working on it 🙂👍

@autism101 @actuallyautistic I love that picture. It's sooooooooooooooooooooo authentic😂

@autism101 Social situations are tricky. I enjoy connecting with people, but being social is work. I fall into #masking, but I am slowly trying to be mindful of it and try minimize this. It really is like being an out gay man for me. Filters.

I can be gregarious and flirty. I never feel #extroverted. I’m surprised when others interpret it that way. Alcohol amplifies my expression, drops filters. I avoid it because I can get a bit too friendly.

Oh, I can socialize really well and recognize at least enough nonverbal cues to react within an acceptable bandwidth. It just drains my spoon account for the next days which is why I rarely do it nowadays.

Flirting is another story though. I can keep it up for at most five minutes until I say something that ruins the atmosphere. Yes, I‘m single. ;-)

I can be the center of attention sometimes and enjoy "the stage". I can make people laugh imitating people and making my quirks sound funny. I know many random and useless facts and can integrate them into conversations often in a funny way. Others might have the impression that I'm extroverted.

But it drains me completely and I need much time to recharge. Also, I will chastise myself for talking too much, for leaving a weird impression etc
