The German word for defusing a bomb translates literally as "remove the spicyness". 🌶️
@sixohsix the beauty of the German language is a substantial portion of words sound like someone got stoned and forgot what the thing was called so ended up saying "hey, could you pass me my hand shoes?"

I manage forgetting common words all the time without being stoned.

Like the time when I needed a towel and cobbled together "drymaking thing".

My personal favorite for a word that does not describe the object very well is the german word for vice: Schraubstock, literally "screw(able) stick".

@wakame
"vice": in what sense of the word?

Heavy metal clamp mechanism that holds objects, also called "vise" apparently.
@wakame
In British-English, the word "vice" has two meanings. In American English, one of those meanings instead belongs to "Vise".
