The @WHO sells hopeium. "the virus will represent less and less of threat to society... we can look at COVID-19 in the same way we look at seasonal influenza, a threat to health, a virus that will continue to kill, but a virus that is not disrupting our society or disrupting our hospital system. (But) All bets are off if we do have the unfortunate evolution of a virus that is more severe and more transmissible at the same time." It is crazy to me that the experts at the WHO could give an entire press conference on #COVID19 and declare it less of a threat and never mention chronic damage, long COVID, disabilities, or reinfections. Not a word about the many studies showing damage to hearts, brains and immune systems. Nothing. They're declaring "mission accomplished" while ignoring the primary risks we face today from COVID.
@augieray me, earlier:
If we consider even 40% of the world population has had #COVID19 at least once, that is 40% of all people have some level of brain damage. From #brainfog to #dementia.
Are we taking this into consideration?
They're running government, driving trains & buses, flying planes, performing surgery. I think it's time we start giving serious consideration to the fact that many people we rely on are most likely brain damaged to some degree & possibly shouldn't be in their jobs.

@augieray

Depressing but not entirely surprising. They assured us it wasn't airborne, too, and kept a tweet up saying that long after it obviously wasn't true.

@augieray
The WHO have been unimpressive since day1. IIRC they argued against national border controls "because they don't work". They DO work when you lock the door properly, like NZ. They don't work when you make grandiose statements & shut the borders to people with suspect haircuts, like UK. Would they have liked open borders for rampant airborne Ebola? Look how much time they spent discussing where it came from instead of how to manage it.
They have proved they CANT handle a pandemic
@augieray the "D" in CDC stands for "Denial"
