#freesoftware #LibrePlanet2023 #libreplanet Anyone have a good FOSS alternative to Discord?
@thewitchpunk Revolt, Matrix, IRC.
@blake But do any of those have voice and video chat as well as text chat?
@thewitchpunk
Matrix does although it's not great, I expect Revolt does though.
@thewitchpunk I use Element/Matrix (https://element.io/) instead of Discord nowadays.
Element | Secure collaboration and messaging

Element is a Matrix-based end-to-end encrypted messenger and secure collaboration app. It’s decentralised for digital sovereign self-hosting, or through a hosting service such as Element Matrix Services. Element operates on the open Matrix network to provide interoperability and easy connections.

@ab78702 Matrix doesn't seem to have voice calls.
@thewitchpunk ah, good point. perhaps a combination of element and jitsi (https://jitsi.org/) might work?

@thewitchpunk one of the lightening talks at libreplanet today introduced 'quiet', not sure if it has video/voice but it looks interesting: https://tryquiet.org/
Quiet - Private messaging. No servers.

@cst0 It doesn't. I've tried it out. Also, I posted about it earlier.
