@nixCraft I never really understood why so many different compressions were needed in Linux or FreeBSD
@iamstu @nixCraft They have different goals, different strategies, different strengths. Some excel at compression ratio at the expense of compression time, some have great compression and decompression time at the expense of compression ratio. Some are better at text than binary and vice versa, some are better with lots of small files, so on and so forth.
