β€œI’m going to be late”
– mundane
– overused
– sounds like it’s your fault

β€œThe cold and unfeeling machinations of fate have once more thrown my plans into disarray”
– mysterious
– implies some kind of impending doom
– sounds like the start of a villainous monologue

@XanIndigo love it - will be my default from now on :D
@jcristovao I plan to text this to people in future with no additional context

@XanIndigo Absolutely. But to take grandiloquence to the vainglorious pinnacle, have your characters curse that way. There is nothing that beats a well written insult to confuse and destroy your opponent. It's something that has fallen out of vogue in the last couple centuries, but it deserves a revival.

@sfwrtr Lately, I've been trying to improve my insults for DND purposes. A few are likely to sneak into my writing too.

@XanIndigo unfortunately my experience is that if you do that kinda thing often enough, ppl start expecting it and stop reacting 😞

🏡️

@XanIndigo harder to say when running out the door with toast in my mouth though
@XanIndigo the inevitability of my prior actions have had dire consequences for my present abilities πŸ™πŸ»
@moiety A troublesome situation which, I regret, may cause some inconvenience. But make no mistake, it shall be overcome.
@XanIndigo and this one. I really appreciate you and I'm glad to have you back 😌
@XanIndigo I’d rather know the villain. πŸ˜‰
@XanIndigo but saying this does require wearing a monocle
@XanIndigo TWW: When you tell of something it is of you, not of the listener and shows you creating an image and using your song to share it. The recipient hears or reads this song through their judgment and creates an image of their own. That image is never as yours and as they share in return it may be in agreement or disagreement but it is never the same. *I have always enjoyed this and occasionally try to imagine the images my words and songs make in the mind of another.OWOP
@XanIndigo sometimes it really be that way though!!! πŸ˜‚
@XanIndigo Using this as the opening line in my next one-on-one with my manager.
@XanIndigo If I rename my cat Fate, this’ll make even *more* sense.
