Dr. Juande Santander-Vela@Iris hope they weren’t successful… quoting the most damming sentence (never having lived in the Netherlands I have no way to test… although it might correlate with some behavior I’ve seen): «Non-Dutch academics are also oblivious to the widespread practice of influence peddling that is considered normative in the Dutch culture. Influence peddling means using one’s influence and connections to obtain preferential treatment for another person and is [entrenched] in the Dutch culture»

Faye@Iris Rather a fitting description of Dutch culture… not only for academics. Closed ranks for politics, investors, businesses, Health care professionals, etc… supporting their own. And like always, not every etc… but one’ll find this behaviour everywhere in Dutch society.
