I'm almost there: using #HomeAssistant, Double Take and CompreFace to perform facial recognition when my Reolink doorbell spots a person at the front door so it can automatically open my Loqed smart lock when it sees me or my wife.

It's a bit of a convoluted setup, but it's a 100% local solution.

Will first test extensively for false positives, obvs.

@robertklep Sooo, I can open your door by showing your profile picture to your doorbell? 😜
@Bas probably, yes 😅

@robertklep @Bas

You could set up an #ESPresence node next to your front door with the sensitivity dialed down to one or two meters, then only unlock the door when the facial recognition and the espresence for one of your phones trigger at the same time.

@unixorn @Bas I'm planning on using the facial recognition only when we're around the house. We just don't always take our phones with us when we're in the garden, and even though the lock has a PIN, facial recognition kicks more ass 😄

@unixorn @Bas my next project is using a cheap NFC-based cabinet lock with a cheap Zigbee contact sensor so we can use NFC tags to open the door like a regular key 😂

IKEA
@Bas @unixorn yes, I remembered IKEA had those devices after I placed the order on Aliexpress 🤦🏼‍♂️

@robertklep @Bas it definitely kicks more ass ;-)

And the pin is a good backup

@unixorn @Bas by the way, ESPPresense is very cool! I configured it to scan for our phones close by (10cm) and it works quite reliably. So that's another factor I can use for access control.
