Terran 1: Launching The World’s First 3D Printed Rocket

YouTube
We're at T-55 minutes. Propellant load is almost complete. Livestream is going on now. #space

The rocket, #Terran1, is 85 percent 3D printed and uses liquid methane and liquid oxygen as propellant. If it successfully makes it to orbit, it will be the first methane-fueled rocket to achieve that.

T-36 minutes

#Relativity #space

Currently waiting for an update from Mission Control.

Updated launch time: 2:00 PM ET

#space #relativity

Hold is due to wanting more time for propellant conditioning.

#space #relativity

Weather is go for launch, but it’s windy out there.

#relativity #space

Another hold — they need more time for propellant conditioning. The launch window is I believe a total of three hours.

#relativity #space

It is a pretty rocket

#relativity #space

New T-0 time 2:40 PM ET

#relativity #space

Go for launch! Currently T-14 min

#relativity #space

Less than 5 minutes to launch.

#relativity #space

Nine Aeon engines

#relativity #space

HOLD at T-69 seconds, but also retracting the strongback

#relativity #space

Countdown should be resuming imminently

#relativity #space

Currently checking if they can recycle and try again within the launch window today

#relativity #space

They're going to recycle! New launch time: 3:55 pm ET.

Launch window closes at 4 PM ET.

Abort occurred because Stage 2 oxygen temperatures were out of limits. They're going to fix it and try again.

#Relativity #space

Update: New launch time is 3:45 PM ET, not 3:55 PM ET. #relativity #space

Scrubbing operations for today. Hopefully we'll know more soon.

@skrishna Thank you for the play by play! :-D Loving it! Really appreciate it!
@skrishna I hope they get it off the ground soon!
@ismh same!!! they're doing good work!
@skrishna Well crud. Automatic abort. Still some time in the launch window, so some chance of a reset. Any idea when the window ends?
@jstevenyork 4 PM ET, they're assessing recycle options now!
@skrishna I have an Ender 3 at home so I can print one myself, right
@ldpm oh ABSOLUTELY, let me know how that goes 😂
@skrishna What exactly is propellant conditioning? Is it essentially just giving it time to settle to even out any unevenness in temp/density from the inflow?

@skrishna and potentially first methane rocket to reach orbit.

If it fails, then the next most likely is Starship, which is mildly ridiculous.

@skrishna
Hoy lanzan el primer cohete impreso en metal con motores impresos... Todo impreso! ⬆️⬆️
@pthenq1 Si, es muy impresionante. Tengo esparanza!
@skrishna 3d-printed garden gnome says "godspeed!"
