Those of you who are familiar with The Physics Girl YouTube series featuring Dianna Cowern, might not know that she's been battling a scary rare case of Long COVID that triggered a serious condition called ME/CFS. She's been rushed to the ER twice in the last week, and the condition is now life-threatening. She just got married in 2022 and her new husband has become her primary caregiver. Dianna's BFF and fellow YouTube science communicator, Simone Giertz (who builds silly, complicated robots), has issued a plea for contributions to Dianna's Patreon. @JenLucPiquant That's so tragic for a previously vibrant young person. And who knows how many stories like this we don't know because they aren't public personalities.

This is why I still mask.

@JenLucPiquant it breaks my heart that Dianna is going through so much... I am glad she has such a wonderful hubby, mom and friends... I hope she can make a full recovery.....I wish people had not politicized masks ...

@JenLucPiquant #UnpopularOpinion If the US had a healthcare system similar to any developed country she would not need to rely on people donations to get treatments. I bet there are many people suffering similar conditions who do not have her audience and are unable to collect money for medical care.

Do not get me wrong, I hope the best for her.

Yet this just shows how sick the US healthcare is. I bet this will be seen by many americans as a "feel good story" which it is obviously not.
