My CRT filter/painting technique is coming along.
@Owainia the hotel I stayed at this weekend had arcade cabinets in the lobby and I had to explain to my boys why the actual vintage cabinets were cooler than the "100-in-1" emulator cabinets with LCD screens
@3j0hn I mean, they are cool, but 100 games is 100 games.
@Owainia It is certainly true that emulated Pac-Man (and 99 others) is better than no Pac-Man, but it still makes me wince to put in two quarters for a play on a low-effort emulation.
"We have Pac-man at home!"
Pac-man at home:
@3j0hn ha! I have good quality emulation available on every flat surface in this house, and I'm the only one who plays any of it.
@Owainia That looks really good to my untrained eye. I'm curious what the unfiltered sprites look like for comparison.
@Owainia Fascinating. It's like a completely different technique to do pixel art for CRT, compared to pixel art that's meant to be displayed unfiltered / on an LCD.
@eviloatmeal Now here's the weird bit. This is the 'actual' painting under the filters. I never see this part, I only see the final art or pixel art.
@Owainia yooooo this is very good!
