FFMPEG is so great… whatever it is you need to do with a video file, all you have to do is type "ffmpeg [thing i need to do]" into Google, copy-paste your first result, and then it doesn't fucking work
Painting I did to play with my new apple pencil
I think these will be my test sprites
My CRT filter/painting technique is coming along.
Bagels turned out great btw
As long as you're always aware of what sort of stupid bullshit you are creating, you'll probably be okay. It's right when you start to think that it's not stupid bullshit that you run into trouble.
I haven't submitted something to Clarkesworld for ages. I miss the rapid face slap of a rejection from that joint.
I would just say, as an experiment, when you’re drafting a story, try starting a few sentences later and then doubling back.
I see a lot of stories that I think might be improved, or at least do a better job of hooking me initially as a reader, by making their second or third sentence (or paragraph) their first. Stories that spend sentences (or paragraphs) on set-up before hitting me with their best opening line.
Your opening line has to do a lot of work in a short story. There’s lots of different ways it can do that work, but don’t be afraid to throw me into a story, even if it initially throws me for a loop, before you even introduce the setting or characters.
