Ron DeSantis says he wants to “make america Florida”

That means:

Mishandle Covid: lie about data, raid public officials, never distribute funds

Remove elected officials

Threaten teachers with felonies if they don’t remove books

Attack trans children, pass legislation to kidnap them from parents

Out LBGTQIA students

Demand student menstrual data

Remove companies’ 1A protections

Ignore 4A, 14A protections

Restrict reporter access

Allow rampant insurance fraud

@flexghost as a reminder, when people show you who they are, believe them.

This whole strategy has been playing out in real time. He continues to show the evil behind the mask but the system is so compromised at this stage it's not enough to cause action.

Voting has to stop these monsters or our society will have agreed that their evil represents us. It doesn't and we need to prove it at the ballots.

@mentallyalex @flexghost The worrisome part is that people in FL overwhelmingly reelected him governor. That suggests to me that there is a portion of the population that supports these platforms. I don't want to fall into the typical trope of "my political opposite is brainwashed or insane" but I don't know how else to describe the people who voted for this schmuck. Or dippy, for that matter.
@helplessduck @mentallyalex they did and the gerrymandering argument doesn’t come into play this time

@helplessduck
The Florida government is so painfully compromised I don't know if the system is recoverable. But that being said, this isn't necessarily something that could happen large scale. I mean, it could - but it would take a while. It's already happening, but it's not quite there yet. He's had years to erode the system, they have had decades of movement.

DeSantis is a dangerous Fascist who absolutely wants the worst things to come to pass. We need to acknowledge that, reject it, and correct the ship in ways that provide a way through the anger.

People like DeSantis exist because the environments around him. He couldn't rise to power on his own - and like so many vermin he will scuttle back to the shadows if he can't find support.

@flexghost

@mentallyalex @flexghost That poses an interesting question, though. He has this support. How do we rationally send him back to his filthy swamp without disenfranchising and alienating the people who -however wrongly- may actually believe this is the direction society should take?
@mentallyalex @flexghost "Him" being analogous to all these fascist nut-jobs flooding the scene lately.
It's a lot of people we're talking about here.

@helplessduck
By showing them the other ways forward and coaxing the recoverables into recovery.

The problem with these conversations (I don't mean ours, I mean the world stage one we're discussing) is that they span years/decades. These issues didn't start with DeSantis, or Trump, or Bush, or even Reagan. This is all flowing back through time as things slowly started to pivot. Reagan nudged it, so did Bush, etc. but people tend to attach on the one name, point an accusatory finger and then stand there waiting for applause when they properly isolated one of the root causes.

It's not that they aren't right - it's that it's not the ONLY problem. It's almost a single-issue problem, but the causes and symptoms and all the other stuff boil down to a very dangerous point. We have people in the country who now believe everything said above and worse. They didn't start out that way - they started like we did. But they were nudged the other direction.

We need to unravel the hate. Provide transparent and whole solutions, calmly look the monster in its eyes and patiently triage the abuse to reduce as much damage as possible while rescuing survivors.

You might not convince 39 yr old "Billy the Hate guy" but you might help the family Billy is infecting. You might give Billy's optics the proper framing so he can't continue to hurt people and you can certain remove his ability to continue hurting others.

@flexghost

@helplessduck @mentallyalex @flexghost

He got re-elected because 1,000,000 less democrat-voters turned out last gubernatorial election. Why? Because the person running under the Dem ticket was our former REPUBLICAN governor. That most likely left a bad taste in the mouths of liberal and leftist voters, and they simply didn't vote.

@flexghost If it talks like a fascist......
@BackFromTheDud it’s meatball Ron
@flexghost No, he looks more like a pink cabbage than a meatball.
@flexghost I feel like this will be one of the points in history where later generations will ask why they didn’t see the warning signs right in front of them.
@flexghost and FORBID BOOKS, you forgot this nazist one; and yes, no blogger can write about FL gov if does not register with the Fl Gov, LOL

@MeidasRomi character limit much like Ron

And it’s mentioned

@flexghost Why isn’t the DOJ looking into DeSantis’s destruction of the First Amendment and the Right to Privacy? Schools are partially funded by the federal government, how can DeSantis demand books be eliminated from schools?
@flexghost
i feel like he doesn't get the whole ideal behind a "Florida Man" 😎
@flexghost
Eating peoples faces…
@flexghost Massachusetts has a few felony charges waiting for the human trafficker. AG won’t drop the charges. Doesn’t justice seem to be at a trickle? When it comes to politicians? Getting puking sick, of the kid gloved treatment. Rightwing justice…Isn’t justice. 🔥

@flexghost Miami may disappear under the sea but I guess it isn't important to him
@flexghost Florida is a festering shithole, so no thanks.
@flexghost Ron Death Sentence may as well say he wants to take America back to a time when people were...backwards, and dumb as sh*t...

@flexghost

I only have violent things to say at this time.

@marq We have that in common
@marq @flexghost I only have obscene things to say about DeSantis

@flexghost

Face of a thug, portrait of a Fascist, favorite of the GQP.

@flexghost No big shock; he wants to rule a Fascist state.

@flexghost Much of his playbook comes straight from Hitlers:

"Under the authority of the Third Reich, teachers were obligated to join the National Socialist Teacher’s League...responsible for carrying out the educational goals of the Nazi Party, and to take an oath of loyalty to the Führer, Adolf Hitler."

@flexghost

In other words, he wants to make America #Gilead

@flexghost Is there a good or dedicated source/account all things fascist DeSantis is doing?

@flexghost DeSantis is dangerous. I will be saying this a lot in the next couple of years.

Vote!

@flexghost it’s gross. His track record as attorney at Guantanamo shows he cares little for human rights
@Kubi37 bragged about torture under his watch
@flexghost I truly do not understand how this disgusting waste of flesh is still in office.
@flexghost Don't forget hundreds of millions in giveaways to his personal cronies.
@flexghost This is great. It needs to be an infographic.
@flexghost while ignoring real problems like a growing homeowners insurance problem and affordable housing shortage in major cities
@flexghost For as much as the GOP talks about how much they love freedom and capitalism, they spend a lot of time crippling some of it's foundational elements like freedom of choice, personal rights, competition, open and retaliation free journalism, and the fundamental right to privacy.

@flexghost
#DeSantis and the #Republicans are following the 1930s Nazi playbook as they try to raise their #FourthReich.

#FascismOnTheRise
#ThereAreNoGoodRepublicans

@flexghost go to the Walmart in Fort Walton Beach and then tell me how great Florida is. I dare you.
@flexghost I think it's time to reboot USA.
@flexghost just look at the red tide phenomenon. He will spend as much time listening to the #EPA, #NOAA about any number of topics (none, he will spend no time listening to any scientists about anything).

@flexghost the US government should stop subsidizing construction in natural disaster prone areas. Insane policy

Stop rebuilding Florida. massively increase federal insurance (or tax) so people stop building up beach front property that's going to be seafloor within our lifespans

@flexghost I’d rather leave this country than live in it for one second under dictator DeSantis
@flexghost he is outright demonic. Inhuman.
@flexghost Can we have a wall blocking Florida & all its #FloridaMan toxic waste

@flexghost DeSantis and Pence should form a support group for People Who Will Never Be President of the United States.

Theoretically, Hillary Clinton also could participate, although she may already have recovered from her addiction.

@KansasGrant she won the popular vote tho
@flexghost If DeSantis doesn’t watch out he’ll win the Republican nomination.
@Derek1 well, at least he has a negative charisma
