@f00fc7c8 @LillyHerself Unless Thinkpad’s support phone calls, I think this is missing the point possibly… Which is not to say that I don’t agree with the general premise as it applies to, say, an iPad vs a ThinkPad.

But if you are actually giving them a phone for emergency calls and such, the iPhone is quite likely going to be more secure than an Android one of that vintage too.

@heavyboots @f00fc7c8 @LillyHerself This is where I really hate how 2G and 3G are being phased out. Tons of fantastic dumb phones that'll only make calls, and last until the end of time. All being made obsolete now :(

I suppose you could go even more oldschool, and get a long range two way radio.

In any case, thanks the the afore mentioned 2g/3g shutdown, any smartphone new enough to support volte is still too "smart" imo
