The next time you hear "pro-life" conservatives talking about family values, remember that the states with the most restrictive abortion laws also have the least supportive programs for families and children.
States With Abortion Bans Are Among Least Supportive for Mothers and Children

They tend to have the weakest social services and the worst results in several categories of health and well-being.

@rbreich sounds about right on par!
@rbreich, as with everything to do with the modern Republican party, the cruelty IS the point.

@rbreich

Or, in Trump parlance, "shithole states."

Sorry, but as a traveling professional (airline pilot), I've spent a good deal of time in every state, and quite a few international cities, as well. Some states are indeed 'substandard', compared to our national averages, national persona, national intelligence, and general national morality. I think both Robert and I are looking at the same states, here.

Republican "Right-to-Life" ends at birth.

@rbreich I believe the cruelty is the point. It's not even about control so much as inflicting pain, on those you oppose particularly but on as many people as possible.
@rbreich Those were also the states with minimal COVID controls and no mask mandates.
@rbreich yea, conservatives are hot to oppose abortion and they love to support the unborn but the moment a baby is born he or she will be on their own. they totally bail out of any responsibility. good luck.
And this is where I have a huge problem! I am pro-life, period. I stand in opposition to our Democratic party because they want to snuff out life before birth. But I also stand in opposition to our Republican Party, because they want life snuffed out after birth, or else they just don't care who lives or who dies, just as long as they come out of the womb alive. On the flip side, I am pro-choice, meaning that anyone who can make the choice should have the right to die. Since unborn children have no choice, they have the right to live, and anyone born has the right to live a full and healthy life, right up until they themselves make the decision that their life is over or that they are too much of a burden on family, friends and whoever else to keep on living. But that is also not my choice to make for anyone other than myself.
@rbreich just slap the bitches.
@rbreich And what are their child deaths by shooting like?
@rbreich Not to mention among the highest infant and maternal mortality rates...
@rbreich
I am pro free will. I am pro free choice.
