My daughter recently was pregnant. She had previous miscarriages but we were all very hopeful. She was a few months in when there was no heartbeat. The baby within had died. Because we live in a BLUE state an abortion pill could be given. A procedure could be done. She did not have to suffer carrying a dead fetus. She was heartbroken but with rest and healing could try again. If she was in a RED state the procedure and the pill would have been banned.
Reblogging post about my daughter because banning the pill she used is in the news again.

@RoseFlint My condolences. Iโ€™m glad she was able to get the care she needed.
@lydiaschoch thank you. I didn't have an opinion about the abortion pills until this happened.
@RoseFlint Iโ€™m sorry your daughter had to go through that. It must have been extremely difficult. The last thing she needed would have been a bunch of politicians making it even worse.
@cswalker21 thank you. She and her husband live in a studio apt now. We hope to pool resources and get a home together. We were thinking of leaving CA but probably not unless it's a blue state.
@RoseFlint @cswalker21 I left a very blue state to retire closer to my grown children. I thought I ended up in a fairly cosmopolitan area, and my immediate neighborhood is just that. But we are next to an absolute sea of redness across much of middle PA. I recommend stalking the local Walmart parking lot to estimate the ratio of Trump to Biden stickers, just to see if youโ€™re going to be overwhelmed.
@MarkAB @cswalker21 That is a good idea. I recently saw a map of the U.S Red and Blue by county. It was amazing how actually purple we are. The idea of purely Red or Purely Blue States is just not a reality.

@RoseFlint

Had she not been able to get a procedure or the abortion pill, her life could have been in jeopardy! In states where these are banned, women's lives are put at risk.

I hope your daughter can heal and your family can have a happier future.

@RoseFlint I am so sorry to hear this, and I am so glad she was able to get help. {{{hugs}}}
@CharJTF Thank you for your kind words.

@RoseFlint

Condolences to you and your daughter. Grateful for Blue stars who don't choose to hate women.

@RoseFlint

The medical crises created by zealots dogma and criminalization alone are heartbreaking and dangerous.

But the increasing criminalization of women as women, is terfifying in the same amount. Criminaluzed at school, shamed at school, reporting reiods to scholl authorities, being stopped at the border to provide proof if bleeding, being turned into Republicans brood cows.

NO.

No.

@kevinrns As an older than dirt female, I grew up in a time when women were getting more and more rights. It feels like we have come so far. But this attack on women by GOP and recent legislation is terrifying.
@RoseFlint itโ€™s because the cruelty is the point for the GOP. They view pregnancy like it is supposed to be difficult and treacherous, โ€œthe way God intended,โ€ because of Eve and because they hold a medieval perspective on how the world works. Namely, that God acts to punish wrongdoing in obscure ways that make no sense and without warning. They want complicated miscarriages to โ€œteach you a lesson.โ€ They want unwanted pregnancy to punish you for having sex, even against your will.
@muzikant it's hard for me to understand the mindset of the GOP. I was raised as a Christian and still continue to worship in my own way. But the church now is not the one from my childhood and I barely recognize this GOP version of hatred for Gods sake.
