Today on the first day of Women’s History Month I learned that after no fault divorce was finally legalized in 1970, female suicide rates dropped 20%🤯
The "strong 1950s family unit" that the GOP is nostalgic about ignores record high female suicide, suffocating domestic violence, & zero female financial autonomy.
But maybe that's GOP's goal all along?🤔

In the 1950's, women were often misdiagnosed as "insane" if they reported abuse & were involuntarily committed to psychiatric institutions.
Some women were diagnosed as "promiscuous" & involuntarily treated with shock therapy or lobotomies.
Psychiatrists routinely broke confidentiality to a woman's abuser.
Incest, rape, child abuse & violence were routinely ignored by police & society.
Yes, GOP billionaires will return women to these conditions to keep power in a heartbeat.

The practice of medicating women who live in horrific conditions continues to this day.
The FLDS, a fundamentalist Mormon cult, keeps most of its women on tranquilizers to prevent them from objecting when their sons are abandoned out of town & daughters are "married" off to men older than their grandfathers. Human trafficking is pervasive in this cult.

All major religions shield men from the consequences of their conduct.
All major religions serve as the "hatchet man" for patriarchy.
I haven't come across a major religion that doesn't act as a bulwark for the abuse of women & children.
What's worse is how certain religions like Catholics create cognitive prisons so women cannot conceive of even trying to leave. Passive acceptance to crime becomes normal
