Washed my car today in preparation for the 2500 mile drive to my new home.
@johnosborn I imagine you’ll be taking a much more direct route, but feel free to say hey if you’re passing through CA
@autonerdery For reasons of winter I’m actually avoiding the direct route through Utah and Idaho and stuff and going via LA. But I’m not sure about my schedule.
@johnosborn obvs same goes if you’re passing through SF!
@midendian I’ll be through but I don’t know about the timing. Q: I want to visit the Disney museum in the Presidio. Do you think I can park there or nearby? Or should I ride share?
@johnosborn weekday should be fine, weekend probably not, especially if the weather is at all nice. (Can also take the 38 to the 43 bus if you’re staying downtown.)
@johnosborn dope. I didn’t know you had a c7. What config do you have?
@Mark It’s a ‘19 Grand Sport.
@johnosborn nice the one I would want is a manual GS, but from what I understand is because the C8 is auto only these last manual cars carry a price premium and probably will continue to indefinitely.
@Mark Mine is an auto and I’m totally fine with it considering the traffic I deal with on the regular. My project / fun car is a manual, though.
@johnosborn I’ve had vette owners tell me that auto vettes aren’t as much of a comprise because the V8 makes lots of torque even at low revs so even the older shittier autos are a good match. I haven’t had the opportunity to drive one, but I would love to have the chance. I loved vettes and vipers when I was young and I still have affinity for the brand as an adult that drives pretty slow.
@Mark It’s definitely true that it has a lot of low-end torque and the 8sp auto seems very well matched. You can paddle shift it and it changes pretty quick, fast enough for me anyway. It’s not a rocket but fast enough for me. I wanted a GS for the crisp handling and it’s superb in that domain.
