As a data nerd I appreciate how recent discourse comparing engagement on Mastodon vs. Twitter has focused on metrics. It should be mentioned, however, that the *quality* of engagement is far superior on Mastodon. Replies are generally well-intentioned and well-informed, and that matters, too.

@DataDrivenMD Agreed. I just realized that a number of my recent toots have been followers-only rather than public and yet they still garnered more and better engagement than they would have gotten on Twitter. It is amazing how good the engagement per-capita is here.

Plus we're cooler and have much better senses of humor.
@DataDrivenMD The metric you mention is the only metric thats important here.
@DataDrivenMD @KingShawn It’s actually everything. So much better here by FAR.
@DataDrivenMD @KingShawn a following question to ask, which I think will require time and data, is whether or not this trend is due to the lack of noise makers having made it over here yet, or if the *people* here are going to largely remain valuable, thus keeping the platform valuable. I mean that from a quality of engagement perspective, not monetary. #TwitterMigration
@bill0004 @DataDrivenMD @KingShawn this is the kind of nerd research and statistics that absolutely fascinates me.

And I have no idea why. 🤷‍♂️
