Engagement is truth, right? The more something is up voted and liked and retweeted, the more true and real it obviously is. The only reason someone can be blocked is ignorance!

So posts over a certain threshold will ignore blocks. Leading to people actively liking things to drive engagement to force viewpoints on others.

It hits all the points. It drives traffic, enrages people, increases metrics, and is fucking stupid.
