Steve Jobs would have been 68 years old today. Here's what I wrote about him, "Memories of Steve," back in 2014:

Memories of Steve

@donmelton Wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing.
@slothdude Thank you and you are very welcome! ❤️
@donmelton Thanks for this! It's wonderful. I only have a few memories of interacting with Steve Jobs myself since I only saw him a few times other than with crowds at conferences. I did, though, have dinner alone with him once in his hotel room when the other attendee didn't show. I last spoke with him at his last WWDC closing a loop that started with VisiCalc (http://danbricklin.com/log/2011_03_09.htm#jobs2011). I got to tell him I was an iPad developer. He always treated me well, even when I said things I'm sure he didn't like. May his memory be a blessing.

@danb Thank you and you are very welcome! ❤️ And I cherish my memories of him just as you do.

@donmelton @danb Met Jobs several times but always at official functions so never talked for long.

Except for one time.

He and his lovely wife were on 5th Avenue in NYC during a Macworld Expo. He was pointing at the building across the street, talking to Laurene. I walked up to him, introduced myself and we chatted about Expo. We talked for a few minutes and I walked away VERY happy. 😃

That was 2003 - he was showing her where the 5th Ave Apple Store was going to be. 🥰

@KingShawn @danb That’s a great story!
@donmelton @danb Thanks! It wasn’t until 2007 I realized what he had been doing. 😁
@donmelton this was a wonderful thing to read. Thankyou for sharing these memories.
@corduroy You are very welcome and thank you for the kind words! ❤️
@donmelton I’ve been following you for so long that I remember reading this when you initially published. What I appreciate about your writing (and the wonderful stories on the Debug podcast) is that it doesn’t lionize him — he was a flawed human like all of us, but with really good taste. I hope there’s more stories for you to tell us about your time there.
@chrisgervais Thank you for being such a long-time reader and listener! ❤️

@donmelton

That''s a lovely reminiscence. Thank you!

@CaseyL Thank you and you are very welcome! ❤️
@donmelton Lovely. thanks for sharing.
@blabberlicious You are very welcome and thank you for the kind words. ❤️
@donmelton Steve Jobs and a puppy in a Mexican standoff. What an image.
@donmelton that’s incredibly beautiful and moving. Thanks for sharing it, and thanks for linking it again, I missed it in 2014.
@illogical_me You are very welcome and thanks for those kind words! ❤️
@donmelton thanks for those endearing stories and having read Isaacson’s book, yours much better represented who Steve was. An ex-Apple employee myself, I never met Steve but did spot him in Caffè Macs once. I also bumped into (literally) Jony Ive at Caffè Macs who was shorter than I thought he looked in videos. Your mention of the kilt-wearer on campus also reminded me of the literal wizard I saw on campus one time.

@theJingster You are very welcome and thank you so much! ❤️ Did we ever run into each other on campus?

Also, yes, there was a wizard. 😀

@donmelton doubtful on the run in. I worked over a decade in retail and only spent a total of 4 weeks on campus doing various training.
