Speaking of comfort games, this arrived today. Super cosy, very easy to set up and get going. It’s also my first true roll and write: I have a few flip and write games but *I don’t like dice* so this will hopefully challenge my preconceptions about dice-driven games. I’ll have a play with it later this week. #BoardGames #sologaming

@emmahunneyball Castles of Burgundy got me over my dice hate. I still don’t like dice used for movement but they offer a different challenge in other types of games.

I’m very interested in what you think of Three Sisters.

@howrandom that’s interesting, it’s the randomness of dice used for movement that puts me off, too. Hopefully this will broaden my horizons a bit. I have to admit I’ve avoided Castles of Burgundy because of the dice; if I like Three Sisters I’ll definitely look into it.
@emmahunneyball Castles has workers to mitigate bad dice rolls. With 1 - 3 workers you can make any number from a dice. A lot of games have something similar such as Lorenzo il Magnifico with servants.
@howrandom @emmahunneyball Space Base does dice really well too
@emmahunneyball three sisters is great! And the dice only determine which garden area you work in for that round, which is only one small part of the choices you can make, so it’s very easy to work around the dice rolls
@olivvybee that’s good to hear! I’m looking forward to playing.
