I think I might have settled on a name. Now I just need to test it, see how badly Germans will mispronounce it and if they'll gender it correctly.

It's Emilis. The Lithuanian form of Emil/Emilio/you get the idea :)

If I get too annoyed with correcting people, I might resort to Elias. It's not as meaningful to me, but it'd make my life easier lol.

#Trans folks, tell me your stories! How did you come up with a name? If you picked a less common one, are you happy with your choice?

@cupoftea I came across mine almost by accident, honestly. My sister was talking about Faith something or other church and I went "Oh, Faith. That's a girl's name. I kinda like it." It also has a lot of meaning for me, personally, with transition as I feel like the whole process has been a giant leap of faith.

Prior to that, I tried REALLY hard to find a girl's name I liked that started with J. Played with Jessica for a while but my wife hated it. (Too much childhood trauma associated with girls named Jessica.) I played around with a few other ideas and scoured baby name sites for months and couldn't come up with a J name I liked. Then I came across Faith and it stuck.

@faithisleaping Love the meaning behind your name. Funny how things sometimes work out in ways we least expect :)

I like how Emil(is) means "ambitious" or "stubborn", among other things, and I'm stubborn as heck.
