PSA: don’t forget you can tap and hold the “Download and Install” button to customize your iOS update
@thatvirtualboy These hidden features are such a fail. When even regular buttons don’t always look tappable, how the hell is anyone supposed to figure out that there are even more options under a long press 🤦🏽‍♂️
@thatvirtualboy I had no idea! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

@pandapoo 👍

Makes you wonder what other special buttons are out there! 🤔

@thatvirtualboy So many secret buttons! …I’m sure the iOS HIG (maybe iPhone OS HIG back then?) used to say interactions should be discoverable, no long press etc. Simpler times. 🙂

iOS in the modern age is a bit more exciting, it’s like diggin' for buried treasure! 😄

@thatvirtualboy I’ll have you know that I did NOT “forget” this, I never knew it! Thanks for the tip. #notdiscoverable
@thatvirtualboy @wklj Another win for discoverable functionality
@thatvirtualboy @wklj Does that feature work for you? I tried it on two devices yesterday and this morning neither is updated.
@atomicbird @thatvirtualboy “download and install tonight?” Yes it works for me if I enter my passcode and then phone is connected to power overnight.
@wklj @thatvirtualboy Strange, that’s what I did but the update didn’t install

@atomicbird @wklj @thatvirtualboy yea unfortunately that Install Later (overnight) functionality has never been consistent for me either.

Can’t say it’s never worked for me, but I’ve had the behavior you described enough that I stopped trying it.

@thatvirtualboy there needs to be some visual affordance for when a button has more options hidden under a long tap. A border or progress bar that pops up to let you know something different will happen if you keep holding.
