Was your crappy wizard simulator worth her life?
For those "well, actually" dipthongs:
Every major British outlet who covered her murder neglected to include the word/prefix "trans" in any part of their articles. That may have been later fixed, but that was their editorial choice in initial reporting.
UK law is draconian and weird. Even *if* she can be buried under the right name, she won't be buried as a daughter on her death certificate or headstone.
The police are claiming it wasn't a hate crime and are looking for other motives.
As for JK Rowling and the wizard™️ game:
JK Rowling is the world's leading TERF. Her influence is directly attributable to genocidal laws in the US and UK. She also helped create the moral panic against trans people. This moral panic normalizes hatred and violence against trans people.
Buying Hogwarts Legacy is direct support of all that, and also direct support of blatant and intense antisemitism.
You can draw a direct line from JK Rowling to Brianna's death.
I daresay the lattermost is incredibly disturbing.
Police are looking for a reason, *any* reason, to deny a hate crime motivation. There might be reasons for this! It might involve more paperwork. It'd certainly involve more work on the parts of both prosecution and defense. But that's an excuse, and disastrously flimsy.
The immediate minimization, if not outright denial, of the most obvious motivation, however, is akin to taking an unlikely motivation and putting it forth as probable. When dealing with the stabbing of a sixteen-year-old girl, the null hypothesis that it was merely an attack of opportunity may stand -- but the second, nearly as likely possibility, is just as tall.
In two days a correction MIGHT be published. If so, it'll be in six-point text at the bottom of an article on page 18 about how a public lavatory has been defaced with a 'beware of the leopard' poster.
A trans girl’s muderer in my city was going to use the trans panic defense. My state changed the law when they heard this in the news. They did not allow him to use that defense.
He was charged with a hate crime.
This victim is white and a teenager too. Most trans murder victims are black. Teen victims are more sympathetic… but I’m American. So what would I know.
CW: hate crime murder
@artemis Are headstones regulated?
I think it’s all so weird that governments care at all what name one goes by. Harold, Harry, whatever.
And why would they care what gender one is? If you think about it, on official records these are things to help identify people. So it’s incorrect to insist on data that doesn’t do that.
@artemis nothing in law dictates what is written on a headstone, does it?
However, acknowledge that misgendering on the death certificate is pretty bad.
Sorry, feels unfair :
“British media coverage is ignoring that she was trans”
Literally _all_ serious articles mention it, BBC does write
“Brianna was a transgender girl but detectives said there was no evidence to suggest her murder was a hate crime.”
The “detectives” is _not_ “the media”. The “detectives” is another failed police.
In this regards “The Telegraph” writes “Police said that they do not believe the crime is related to the fact that Brianna is transgender, and there is currently no evidence to suggest it was a hate crime. Officers said that they were keeping an “open mind” as to the motive.”
Again: Police is _not_ media.
The SKY Lead _begins_ with
“Brianna was transgender,”
The Dazed Headline reads “Brianna Ghey: a 16-year-old trans girl has been killed in Cheshire”
Two 15-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of murder
The Guardian writes “Brianna, who was transgender, had a popular TikTok channel”
All articles I read mentioned it.
Full ack, looked via genios at the _initial_ reports, totally nonsense !
@artemis
A person is a person, i don't care on gender, i just need a name, it is someone's life, someone's way.
Such pathetic and small people to take a life of someone who was loved and cared.
I'm struggling bit how a game is attacking trans people or why it is connected on a hate crime?
To my understanding j.k. rowling had no part in it only the worldbuilding she did in her books that was used.
Not a fan of rowlings thoughts.
Stay strong 💓
Peace.
@godofbiscuits @artemis
Yeah, she get's huge royalties from the game i heard.
I failed big on that one.
Worse is if j. k. r. believe people support her way of thinking of trans people by buying the game.
Looked up closer what she has said and it's far more shite then i remember.
Oh my god, now that truly sucks.
Sorry.
@artemis @Jaageri @godofbiscuits
And it doesn’t matter what she thinks and we should ignore her. Not hand her more power. Like your op post does.

(How very sad to hear of another trans woman's death. 😞)
