If you keep reading what pandemic deniers, including Vax-And-Relax Democrats are saying, ultimately it comes down to them just not liking to wear a mask or miss a party. Personally I'm fine with masks and meeting with people outside once the risks are assessed.

#COVID

@rchusid I’ll never stop wearing a mask now. I’ve really enjoyed the “not even getting a cold” aspect of it. I’m not sure why so many people are against adapting to a new threat to their health.
@rchusid It really is stunning how little tolerance these people have for some minor inconveniences that can save lives (maybe even their own) and potentially end the pandemic.

@MolnarSteven Some of these people are very fragile. I recall one rare time when I engaged with such a person on line. He said he would just die if he couldn't go out to eat with his friends. When I suggested eating outside, it was too cold. Heat lamps? Too inconvenient.

No, he wouldn't die if he missed eating inside with friends, but we know what could actually kill.

@rchusid
I considered skipping the mask on a quick trip to the grocery store recently, b/c I live in a tiny isolated town and hadn't heard anything about COVID or flu outbreaks lately. Someone was stocking shelves, literally coughing directly ON the food items she was stocking. So glad I masked. And bought nothing in that aisle.

People have deteriorated into worse hygiene/infectious disease prevention habits than before the pandemic.

@rchusid A couple of months ago, someone called out a presenter speaking unmasked, to a room full of unmasked people, about *accessibility* on the web – and pointed out that that attitude of “most people will be fine getting COVID once in a while” EXCLUDES immunocompromised people. It tells them “You don’t count; you’re not really part of society.” It’s on the path towards genocide.

(I just tried and failed to find that toot. If someone finds it, I’ll gladly update this!)

@grinningcat It isn't only the immunocompromised, although they are at much greater risk. There should be provisions for the elderly who are at a higher risk than the average person, or even for young people who don't want to get sick for a week.
