No exaggeration, I think I get this 100 times a day this week. That’s how much more I use Mastodon now that I have an A-grade Mac client.

It’s annoying but I really do love it here, and I’m sure it’s going to get fixed.

FWIW: I went into my preferences on mastodon.social and revoked all the credentials for all the apps I'd previously signed-in with, and it seems like I'm not running into this any longer. Lends credence to theory that some app (web app?) I was using was using up all my allocated API calls.
@gruber Interesting. It would be really cool to see a breakdown of the API requests per day/month by apps on that page to make this easier to see.
@ackyshake @gruber @Gargron yes, agree - and would be a good way to identify where Mastodon API abuse might be happening - and be able to socialise/report it
@gruber can't find where to do that?
@carlmesnerlyons it should be under settings > account > authorised apps.
@gruber what do you mean? Mastodon was doing something behind the scenes?
@albertkinng @gruber no. One or more of the apps he’s used/tested in the past.
@gruber FYI @mmasnick - related rate limiting issue maybe? Worth checking.
@gruber You (or anyone else) can typically curl your server to see what your limit is and how close you are to hitting it. https://docs.joinmastodon.org/api/rate-limits/

Defining how often you can call the REST API

@gruber I have had similar with dupe notifications. Clearing old approvals cleared it up.

@gruber

Did you reboot?

Serious question. If you did, then the resource problem may have been client side.

You may have inadvertently lost debugging info.

@gruber after trying out another client, mastodon.social logged me out of my web session.

I remembered your toot and revoked credentials for the app I wasn’t using anymore. This seems to help.

Every client is in there 2 times because I use them on iPhone and iPad. (No Mx Mac, yet.)
