This is wild. Seems like the entire house has a mirror image hers/his design. Like a couple *really* couldn't agree on finishes and they could afford to build both. 17,000 sf. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/86-Prospect-Ave-Highland-Park-IL-60035/4906001_zpid/?
I suppose half of these could be really sophisticated renders? Anyhow, this mansion is insane and worthy of the #FNZ #FridayNightZillow gang's attention, even though it's not Friday.
! This "Iron Chef-designed" kitchen featured in Beautiful Kitchens; includes "4 ovens, 8 cooktops, indoor BBQ, flat-top grill, French cooktop, built-in steamer, *walk-in refrigerator,* commercial salamander," and a hose that drops from ceiling to a wild sink. 🤯🔥!
When a regular fridge isn't enough, you put a walk-in fridge in your kitchen.
Mystery solved. Very high production value video of this mansion from last year doesn't have the whitewashed designs. It does have dramatic music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMmQyEuFr5Q

@steventdennis i'm still laughing at the color of lake michigan though
@steventdennis good thing they made it in the summer
@steventdennis so before and after shots. The question is, which version is the after? Did they spend the last year bleaching the entire house?
@steventdennis
This is the rowdy guest storage area.😄
@steventdennis Can't figure out a "commercial salamander" 🤔🦎—not ashamed to say that we sometimes make brownies from a package. Please explain.
@steventdennis Do we need a permit from Fish and Wildlife??
@RichStein I had to Google commercial salamander myself. It's one of those ultra-fast broilers they use in restaurants.
@steventdennis I'm sure the kitchen staff appreciate it. A small torch and standard oven broiler are more than enough for my arsenal.
@steventdennis I refuse to believe that’s real, but I pray that it is.
@steventdennis Something is wrong, because the listing only mentions one kitchen.
@steventdennis
I would rather have the darker colors
@steventdennis
I think the house is really all done with the dark depressing colors. I like the pretend light and airy look better.
@steventdennis my hope is before and after photos to show either possibility for a new buyer but mirrored footprint is a great idea for either formal and casual visits.
@amfbluffer Appears to be renders for the white ones
@steventdennis Definitely renders. Meanwhile did you catch the listing for Michael Jordan’s shack nearby? https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2700-Point-Ln-Highland-Park-IL-60035/2077748498_zpid/
@steventdennis Oh, good. It’s just gaudy, not an extreme “in lieu of divorce” double house.
@steventdennis I have couple friends here in SF - they bought a 2-unit building in SF back in the stone age. For a while they rented out one of the units, but once they could afford it, one moved into the lower and the other stayed upstairs. They still basically lived together, but their decorating styles were so different (chintz/Victorian vs Southwest) that they preferred to lounge in their own spaces...

@steventdennis Okay, that's a first for me -- they spent a small fortune on a digital staging with the most commonly used rooms in the house shown as is in the photos alongside a digitally staged photo with all the dark, florid, baroque styling whitewashed and replaced with contemporary furnishings.

Wonder what that cost them.

@steventdennis Alt text: A space with stairs going up and down, and a burst of color and pattern. The floor is black and white tiles, and every plane (and there are many, with an angled ceiling and window wells) is a different color -- blue, green, red, orange....
@steventdennis
You'd have to take Dramamine before walking on that floor.
@steventdennis I like its quirkiness, if not its impracticality...

@steventdennis

“🎶 Come on in, and pull yourself up a chair/ Let the fun begin, it's time to let down your hair”

@steventdennis The whole (5 million dollar!) house is so fussy and staged to an inch of its life. This is really where they could let their hair down. What does happy hoco mean?
