It's time for #PaulsPuzzleReview looking at the kind of daily #puzzles, #WordGames, #NumberGames and stuff we play as we commute.

Nurdle https://www.nurdle.fun/ is in the Wordle mould but instead of telling you when the letters you guessed are in the word but in the wrong position it tells you if the letter in a particular position is alphabetically near to the correct letter. So if you guess C for the first letter of the word and it says you are 2 letters off then the first letter is A or E.

Nurdle is a little tricky to grasp at first but you soon get the hang of it (there is a practice mode though it's a little hidden in the settings). Fun to play, trickier than #Wordle without being too taxing.

Brave web browser reports that there aren't any ads or privacy invading nasties on the page either which is always a plus.

Is there a #WordGame, #NumberGame or other #DailyPuzzle that you play that should be on my list? Stick a reply on the post here: https://cupoftea.social/@puzzletrailpaul/109794725957471482

What with all the hoo ha about the New York Times removing a bunch of #puzzles from its website I thought it might be nice to publish a database of free to play daily puzzles and #wordgames, giving a short description of each plus info on whether it has ads or trackers on the page. What do you think, people of the #Mastodon #fediverse? Would you find that useful? Answer in the poll, and stick your favourite game in the replies. #NYT #NYTGames #Wordle #quordle #referdle #acrostic #crosswords [ ] Yes, make a database of daily puzzles [ ] No, spend your time on something else

@puzzletrailpaul I discovered smartle.net today. Fun little game about rearranging letters to form words. It's in beta at the moment so it's still a bit rough around the edges.

@puzzletrailpaul Not sure if playing, but there's Murdle, Worldle, Actorle style things as I recall.

No idea what the Heardle,Frame(dle?) etc. lot are, never looked at.

@ElysiaMacht I'll stick them on the list once I get time to put it together, thanks!
@puzzletrailpaul
thanks for sharing -- I was already a Nerdle fan, so fascinating to be pointed to a homonymic alternative!

@puzzletrailpaul Hi, Paul! Shameless plug - FoxiMax! It looks like Wordle, but is more of a "1.5-D" Hangman. There's a 6-letter English version, and a 5-letter Danish version as we are an Anglo-Danish family. More versions in the works.

@foximax just had a quick play, good fun! I'll definitely add it to the directory I'm working on (might be a few weeks before it sees the light of day due to other commitments). On the subject of shameless plugs do check out my game Chainagram when you have a moment ☺ https://puzzletrail.games/puzzles/chainagram/
