Where is the streaming service series about the life of Hedy Lamarr already. Was once considered the most beautiful woman in the world. Was married to a Nazi arms dealer in lead up to WW2, got out. Helped develop sonar/radar. Use wifi? She helped develop the basic stuff underlying all of it. Her life story is absolutely incredible.
@swearyanthony She's awesome, kinda a hero of mine! Not sure on Mandl, I think you're referncing, abt being married to a Nazi. Mandl was Jewish or half Jewish, Lamar (not her real name) was Jewish by both parents. Mandl dealt metals & arms in Austria & wanted to keep his business going but actually held contempt, (it is said, I mean I didn't know him personally) for Nazis. Later in life I think he married the daughter of a guy who was executed for killing & planning the assasination of Nazis
@Lynneuendo @swearyanthony I just read the Wikipedia article about Mandl. He supported the austrofacists and was a friend of Mussolini. But he moved to Argentina because for the Germans he still was a jew.
@willandthefox @swearyanthony
Thanks for the info. Those are some really conflicted affiliations he had. Enough money got anybody to Argentina back then I guess. Hedy Lamar still kicked ass, though!
@Lynneuendo @willandthefox Hedy absolutely was a legend

@swearyanthony @Lynneuendo I'm going to be in Vienna. I need to look for the house where she was born.

Also I totally want to watch TV show about her.

@Lynneuendo @swearyanthony I went down the rabbit hole and read the article about him and also about composer Alma Mahler-Werfel. She was a regular guest of them and she was married to the composer Gustav Mahler and later to Walter Gropius and later to the poet Franz Werfel. Also she had a romance with the painter Oskar Kokoschka.
And she immigrated to the USA without a visa and had salons with other influenal immigrants.
