If you hire "the best" and a year later they're "not meeting expectations", wouldn't you wonder, "What did we do to them?"

@DocOnDev Or maybe, "How are we failing to accommodate the best?" I've worked at companies that claimed to hire the best but only accommodated the mediocre.
@DocOnDev more importantly, are “the best” working for “the best” and if so, who is holding who back?
@DocOnDev ...assuming that the hiring process was good in the first place. I have seen a lot of poor processes that fail to say no to candidates that don't meet the criteria for the role, but were 'the best of the people who applied' so they got offered the role. 🙂
