Masks work, but aren't magic. They can't instantly end the pandemic alone. Anti-maskers exploit this nuance to trick people into not wearing them.

But you make a difference in every space you wear a mask, by making that space more accessible to higher risk people. That's huge!

We can end the pandemic by investing in infrastructure to clean indoor air and developing vaccines that are more effective at reducing #COVID spread. In the meantime, masks are one of the most effective tools we have to make society accessible to everyone. Use them!
@luckytran Thank you for reminding me. I "forget" when I go out to use my mask. I've sunken right back into pre-pandemic thinking. I need to stop that. Covid is a horrific disease, IMO. It leaves people broken.
@luckytran Hot take. I think the important bit is not developing infrastructure, but mandating safe minimum air quality levels.
@luckytran it really doesnt seem like the pandemic can be ended. Thats not an argument against masking, by the way

@luckytran

When the pandemic hit I thought Musk would see another chance to gather a group of smart people and have them innovate the shit out of Covid protection, treatment and workplace environment like they did with SpaceX and Tesla... but of course, it just showed musk was an idiot and he started spouting conspiracy theories and bullsh!t showing us who he really was.

@luckytran relying on “personal responsibility” isn’t really a rational public health policy and it’s pretty well doomed to fail, though it does seem like it absorbs a lot of energy that could be directed at actually creating effective public health policy by holding the government accountable
