When I was younger, I drove fast, perhaps even recklessly and never did I think that it might be the day my life could be taken. These days I drive the speed limit, I watch my mannerisms. I’m more afraid of police than I am road rage. When I travel for work, I try to get the most nondescript rental, I obey traffic laws. I don’t call attention to myself. So many of us do all that and still don’t make it home. Is anyone listening? How loudly do we have to cry to be heard? I’m so, so tired. ..3
@therichierichaye I can't imagine the health impact due to the constant psychic damage of living life while being not-White in America, man
@hammancheez I went to get dinner and I came in and turned on the TV and saw the coverage. I became immediately overwhelmed. I have not seen nor do I want to see the video. I had nightmares about George Floyd’s death for months. It’s too much.
@therichierichaye and nor should you or anyone have to put themselves through that, the description is more than enough to feel disgust, horror and fear. Take care of yourself tonight as best you can.

@therichierichaye

I hear
I don't know what to do
I rail, get angry,

Does no good

Would Kamalla Harris experience as a prosecutor afford any better insights and approach, do you think? I hate her "shoulds" and " musts" but maybe if she had the top job she might "do." Someone needs to address the anger, rage, and violence in everybody and I believe it would help if there were more women in leadership positions.

@kitsystratton Maybe, I don’t know.

@therichierichaye

Try to hang in there. All people below the top tier (white men) are getting really fed up with the inequity in money, human rights and dignity, health and medical treatment, safety, basic needs. Shit is going to hit the fan soon -- next several months I think and there will be major shifts in power. Then we'll pool our expertise and resources and change some things. And it will not be toward hate and exclusivity. Let's think about what we would like to see different and be prepared to speak up.

@kitsystratton thanks. We are all in the struggle in this thing called life. Some burdens are heavier than others but we are all humans. I might think I am cuter than someone else but not better or less valuable. I have a Master’s degree and I job I like most days. I’m fortunate to have a daughter who worships me and I am not wanting for anything - except the peace of mind of knowing that my life is of value to more than my family, friends and me. And I worry about my friends too.
@therichierichaye How many people heard the commotion and did nothing? I don't think anyone expects to be pulled violently from the car like that. And Nichols was yelling for his life.
@therichierichaye
We hear you. We see you. We feel you. We empathize with you.

@therichierichaye As a Brit living in Australia I felt so sad reading your post. I hate seeing this over and over and over again from USA. Crime and injustice from the very ppl who should be looking after citizens like yourself, who do nothing wrong and who simply want to live a gentle peaceful life.

Im sorry to say this but any country that has forgotten the basics of providing justice, good health, shelter, education, food, water, safety for ALL is a failed state.

The oligarchs, big corporations, banks and money markets run USA not the Govt.
Nothing will change in USA until voters realise that any Govt that governs for the wealthy will never provide the safety nets for the rest of you; the mechanisms that hold the police, banks, courts and politicians to account.

Please stay safe and after yourself. 💕

@therichierichaye I can't even imagine, but have friends who have told me the exact same story. #racism #GeorgeFloyd #TyreNichols

@therichierichaye

Ritchie, I am an old guy too. I find myself thinking like you too. I try to BE nondescript too. I don't even like going out anymore. People are rude, crude and when they do something crazy, the last ones to call are the police! I am tired. I am white.

@therichierichaye it’s absolutely heart breaking and exhausting. I’m so sorry. I cannot imagine the pain, heart break and stress of being a black man, having a black son or loving a black man in this world right now.
@therichierichaye there will always be those that will never listen. Unfortunately, the people we are worried about on the roads usually cause the accident and kill others.
@therichierichaye I am so sorry. I am a white, 60ish, girly, intelligent woman, and I would be trrrified to be dtopped by a cop, or have more than one come to my home. I cannot imagine what it is like for my brothers and sisters of color to function day to day with the terror that are the police, who are supposed to protect us. #tyre #Uvalde #GeorgeFloyd
@therichierichaye When I was a teen I naively believed that the old bigots would eventually die off, leaving the more enlightened behind. Instead new generations of racists and anti-Semites bloomed. It's a vicious circle that we can't seem to break out of, just hold the guilty accountable. Unfortunately that protects no one.
@therichierichaye This is going to require a revolution, "protest" is just that, a protest, shouting "stop!". They won't stop, so now what? There has to be next actions.
@therichierichaye
I'm so sorry, may peace stay by your side.
@therichierichaye
It shouldn’t be this way
It doesn’t have to be this way
We can change the world
We need to start now
Ever day in whatever way we can
And never stop
We are all in this together
