I'm crossposting this from FB as a thread 🧵

#Oklahoma #OKCCityCouncil #2023Elections

I shared this earlier on my neighborhood's facebook group, but thought I would share it here as well in the hopes that folks throughout far NW #OklahomaCity ( ward 8 ) might see it.

I wanted to let you all know that I'll be knocking on some doors in our neighborhood later this week (when the weather improves some) for #AmyWarne for #OKC City Council.

While I won't be hitting every door in our neighborhood (the campaign has given me a list of folks who have voted in past council elections), I am hoping that many who haven't voted in city council elections before might vote this time around, because city elections are a really big deal, possibly having more of an impact on our daily lives than statewide elections.

The election is on February 14th.

I'm supporting her in the ward 8 #OKC council race for the following reasons:

1. She supports major improvements to our infrastructure in ward 8, but especially for #MassTransit. We have quite a bit of population density now, yet only one city bus serves ward 8 (and its closest stop to our neighborhood is at Mercy Hospital --- 3.7 miles away from my house by foot!). - see https://www.amywarne.com/priorities

2. The incumbent in this race (Stonecipher) voted against restoring the #OKC #HumanRights Commission. Thankfully he was outvoted, but the fact that he took this position is inexcusable in my book. - see https://freepressokc.com/okc-city-council-narrowly-approves-human-rights-commission/

OKC City Council narrowly approves Human Rights Commission

The City Council for the City of OKC passed the resolution to re-establish a Human Rights Commission but by a narrow margin.

3. Amy is talking about many important issues that have largely been ignored by the incumbent - working to get #Unhoused people into #AffordableHousing, access to #MentalHealth care, and access to healthy #Food for all parts of our #OKC.
