Picked up a few books at the first annual #JerseyArtBookFair yesterday, including Dense Magazine, "an unlikely design magazine about New Jersey," and New Jersey Fan Club from Jersey Collective, continuing my quest to fully embrace living in #NewJersey.

It was great seeing #zines are alive and well, too! Made me miss the old days before blogs and social media. 🥃

(A.T. Pratt had a great poster and book of illustrations for the 100 best horror movies, which we grabbed for our film snob son.)

Along with zines, I especially miss #FactsheetFive, the OG print Yahoo! of zines that was always a great read itself. I was over the moon when my dumb little zine got a lukewarm review in one of its last issues. Ironically, it wound up being my penultimate issue before I discovered Geocities and poetry slams... 🥃

I was enjoying this nascent attempt to explore the history of F5 last year, but it appears to be on an unannounced hiatus.

@glecharles I remember meeting Mike waaaaay after the F5 days at his house out in the Spokane area. I was on my way somewhere else.Slept in an RV in the yard. Such an important publication but at least at the time I remember MG was *so done* with it.
@jessamyn I can imagine publishing F5 had to be the epitome of a labor of love!
@glecharles I have a few of those Factsheets, they're great!
@KelseyDX7 I'm jealous! I periodically check eBay but I can't remember which issue I was reviewed in. I'm always tempted to buy anything from its last few years, though.
@glecharles I will look at what I have and let you know! I have enjoyed them but I don't necessarily need them 😊
@glecharles it's nice to see at least this one post of yours mentioning #factsheetfive ...I was too late to the party, but I've got some issues to devour, and OMG... as a ziner, I lament its demise often.
@excon83 Do you still make zines? Blogs replaced them for me, but every now and then I get an itch to make one.
@glecharles my last effort dates back to 2012...since then I have been sooo tempted to restart it, but considering the postage costs...I run 2 #webzines but #print always wins. However, knowing me, I think I haven't said the final word on my printing efforts.
@glecharles and funny thing...I have interviewed Beatniks From Mars, the old NYC punk band for my webzine Rubber Axe, just because I have found them mentioned in one old F5 issue. And what an interview it was!!!
