Black people keep saying it’s systemic, and y’all don’t understand how Black cops could do this? Do you not know what “systemic” means?
@gothamgirlblue Yes we get it. I'm so sorry. The white supremacists get it, too. And by "white supremacists," I mean the entire republican party, and also a lot of white people who don't even bother voting.
@gothamgirlblue Cops dehumanize everybody. It’s part of the culture of being a cop. Dehumanize them, kill ‘em, then gather ‘round afterward to talk about how much of a struggle they put up because they must’ve “been on something.” #ACAB #FUCKTHEPOLICE

@gothamgirlblue I've gotten a much clearer understanding of what it means over the last decade or so, even though I've used the words a lot.

Anyone indoctrinated into the system is likely to follow the (sometimes unspoken) conditions of that system no matter who they are.

So it is the system itself that needs to be torn apart.

@gothamgirlblue those are the same people who desperately want to use the N word and think it’s ok because they “have a black friend”. They just don’t get it, and they don’t WANT to get it.

@gothamgirlblue Black cops are part of the system, subject to the same ideas that white cops have.

However, I have a 'hunch' that black cops will be punished harsher. Just a hunch.

@gothamgirlblue it's illegal to teach critical race theory?

@gothamgirlblue

Explaining to my folks how Cop is a race got them to really get it. Followed that with how the chiefs who do the hiring and training, the commissioners who do the policy-writing, the mayors who use them for political capital, the wealthy business owners who fund the mayor and believe it's all necessary for profit, and the common person who believes they could suddenly reap the profit ... it's a self-perpetuating ecosystem.

@alltherum @gothamgirlblue Identity bias. A person’s operative dominate “group identity” may not be what fits into people’s easy slots. It would appear the black cops primary group identity in this case was “cop”.
Often those in power use identity against those without power, in many ways
@gothamgirlblue @danhon good question because honestly I think most people do not

@gothamgirlblue It was chilling when, during the George Floyd (et al) protests, I read up on the origins on policing. Amazingly, it's not JUST slave patrols. Police departments happily point to private security spooking potential thieves from ships importing raw materials from the Americas into England...which oh, more slavery.

But really, the thief deterrence says everything: Policing is about protecting capital from people, no matter who does the job, unfortunately.

@gothamgirlblue the interpretation i have is regardless of who is in the uniform, the entire mechanism is held together by white supremacy. qualified immunity, 'warrior cop' culture, police unions, white supremacy oils the machine regardless of who is pulling the levers
@gothamgirlblue You need to explain it as if you are a YouTuber creating a click bate headline. It needs to make white supremacists want to click and gain the knowledge so later when they look at things they inadvertently use said knowledge. Like implanting a logic bomb in a computer.
@gothamgirlblue It’s crappier that the Police Unions aren’t behind these bad cops simply because they’re Black. The whole of it is fractally tragic, sad, & broken. The system needs to be taken apart & rebuilt focusing on service & protection.
