Black people keep saying it’s systemic, and y’all don’t understand how Black cops could do this? Do you not know what “systemic” means?
@gothamgirlblue Yes we get it. I'm so sorry. The white supremacists get it, too. And by "white supremacists," I mean the entire republican party, and also a lot of white people who don't even bother voting.

@ginamsi there is no party you can vote for to abolish or even limit the power of, the police

please don't do this fucking voting thing again. this ends with boots in the streets and riots, or it doesn't end at all.

@briellebouquet I agree with you about the police. However one party is outright fascist. Are you saying not to vote? Because that's pretty fucking stupid.

@ginamsi i'm saying take your obnoxious "go vote" trash and jump in a dumpster with it, it doesn't help anyone or anything, and both parties are outright fascists

boots in the streets.

both parties hate Black ppl. both parties hate trans/queer ppl. stop telling people who are being murdered by politicians on both sides, to vote for one of the murderers. it's arrogant, vapid, and rude.

don't ever talk to me again. goodbye.

@briellebouquet @ginamsi it takes non-violent protest. Continuously protest until something gets done as well as voting in people who will agree to legislate change and reform. Riots just make them say we need more police. If we act like savages, we'll be treated like savages. Peaceful protest, legislation, voting in people for reforms, and talking to police in your local community. All of that needs to work together. IMHO

@ginamsi @briellebouquet

Fascism or the causes of fascism, you decide!

Voting for less evil is a reasonable course of action. But you're still voting for evil and you don't need to pretend otherwise.

Obediently voting for the least worst option means we end up with no good options. We're all stuck in the same impossible dilemma, no need to waste your energy or anyone else's pretending the dilemma does not exist.

@jocanib Honestly, GROW UP! You sound so ridiculous and naive. Voting is all we have left! Jesus Christ I’m too old for this horseshit.

@ginamsi

If you believed what you're saying, you wouldn't need to resort to insults.

Voting for the least worst option is what got us here. It is not going to get us out. Hold them all to account or give it up.

@jocanib @ginamsi
Maybe think about this: We are where we are because people didn’t do that.
@ginamsi @jocanib Well, I agree with you, Gina. It’s unfortunate that there are so many people that believe both sides are the same. They’ve given up on democracy and that’s exactly what the fascists want. Either you’re with them or you stand on the sidelines fed up with it all. If you don’t pick a side and then work with the people elected to shape it, you’re aiding and abetting the fascists.

@mswoods @ginamsi

Yes, they definitely have your interests at heart. That's why you have universal healthcare and a liveable minimum wage. Just vote them in and it all happens by magic. How cool is that!

@jocanib So don’t vote then! That’ll show ‘em!
@jocanib @ginamsi There’s nothing magic about democracy. It’s hard work. We have to work harder than big money special interests. If you want easy, don’t vote and accept whatever you get.

@mswoods @ginamsi

Democracy is hard work and also, all you need to do is vote?

You don't appear to have read the conversation you're joining.

@jocanib @mswoods @ginamsi You appear to be mistaking with 'voting is one of your tools' with 'voting is the only thing you should do'. If you don't vote, what exactly do you do to try and improve your society?

@mswoods @ginamsi @jocanib "Both sides are the same" argument comes from one of two camps: the apathetic non-voter who uses it as an excuse for not voting, or the voter who got duped for voting for the party of Lowrent & Margarine. They are trying to excuse their action, too.

I'm old. I've been voting a lot of years. This is based on my personal observations. Now get off my lawn.

@antifa4ever @mswoods @ginamsi @jocanib instead of hating people who don't vote, why don't you investigate why the Democrats are such lying scheming selfish snobbish police brutality loving assholes?
@gothamgirlblue Cops dehumanize everybody. It’s part of the culture of being a cop. Dehumanize them, kill ‘em, then gather ‘round afterward to talk about how much of a struggle they put up because they must’ve “been on something.” #ACAB #FUCKTHEPOLICE

@gothamgirlblue I've gotten a much clearer understanding of what it means over the last decade or so, even though I've used the words a lot.

Anyone indoctrinated into the system is likely to follow the (sometimes unspoken) conditions of that system no matter who they are.

So it is the system itself that needs to be torn apart.

@gothamgirlblue those are the same people who desperately want to use the N word and think it’s ok because they “have a black friend”. They just don’t get it, and they don’t WANT to get it.

@gothamgirlblue Black cops are part of the system, subject to the same ideas that white cops have.

However, I have a 'hunch' that black cops will be punished harsher. Just a hunch.

@gothamgirlblue it's illegal to teach critical race theory?

@gothamgirlblue

Explaining to my folks how Cop is a race got them to really get it. Followed that with how the chiefs who do the hiring and training, the commissioners who do the policy-writing, the mayors who use them for political capital, the wealthy business owners who fund the mayor and believe it's all necessary for profit, and the common person who believes they could suddenly reap the profit ... it's a self-perpetuating ecosystem.

@alltherum @gothamgirlblue Identity bias. A person’s operative dominate “group identity” may not be what fits into people’s easy slots. It would appear the black cops primary group identity in this case was “cop”.
Often those in power use identity against those without power, in many ways
@gothamgirlblue @danhon good question because honestly I think most people do not

@gothamgirlblue It was chilling when, during the George Floyd (et al) protests, I read up on the origins on policing. Amazingly, it's not JUST slave patrols. Police departments happily point to private security spooking potential thieves from ships importing raw materials from the Americas into England...which oh, more slavery.

But really, the thief deterrence says everything: Policing is about protecting capital from people, no matter who does the job, unfortunately.

@gothamgirlblue the interpretation i have is regardless of who is in the uniform, the entire mechanism is held together by white supremacy. qualified immunity, 'warrior cop' culture, police unions, white supremacy oils the machine regardless of who is pulling the levers
@gothamgirlblue You need to explain it as if you are a YouTuber creating a click bate headline. It needs to make white supremacists want to click and gain the knowledge so later when they look at things they inadvertently use said knowledge. Like implanting a logic bomb in a computer.
@gothamgirlblue It’s crappier that the Police Unions aren’t behind these bad cops simply because they’re Black. The whole of it is fractally tragic, sad, & broken. The system needs to be taken apart & rebuilt focusing on service & protection.
