@ginamsi there is no party you can vote for to abolish or even limit the power of, the police
please don't do this fucking voting thing again. this ends with boots in the streets and riots, or it doesn't end at all.
@ginamsi i'm saying take your obnoxious "go vote" trash and jump in a dumpster with it, it doesn't help anyone or anything, and both parties are outright fascists
boots in the streets.
both parties hate Black ppl. both parties hate trans/queer ppl. stop telling people who are being murdered by politicians on both sides, to vote for one of the murderers. it's arrogant, vapid, and rude.
don't ever talk to me again. goodbye.
Fascism or the causes of fascism, you decide!
Voting for less evil is a reasonable course of action. But you're still voting for evil and you don't need to pretend otherwise.
Obediently voting for the least worst option means we end up with no good options. We're all stuck in the same impossible dilemma, no need to waste your energy or anyone else's pretending the dilemma does not exist.
If you believed what you're saying, you wouldn't need to resort to insults.
Voting for the least worst option is what got us here. It is not going to get us out. Hold them all to account or give it up.
@mswoods @ginamsi @jocanib "Both sides are the same" argument comes from one of two camps: the apathetic non-voter who uses it as an excuse for not voting, or the voter who got duped for voting for the party of Lowrent & Margarine. They are trying to excuse their action, too.
I'm old. I've been voting a lot of years. This is based on my personal observations. Now get off my lawn.
@gothamgirlblue I've gotten a much clearer understanding of what it means over the last decade or so, even though I've used the words a lot.
Anyone indoctrinated into the system is likely to follow the (sometimes unspoken) conditions of that system no matter who they are.
So it is the system itself that needs to be torn apart.
@gothamgirlblue Black cops are part of the system, subject to the same ideas that white cops have.
However, I have a 'hunch' that black cops will be punished harsher. Just a hunch.
Refers to the whole system,
Explaining to my folks how Cop is a race got them to really get it. Followed that with how the chiefs who do the hiring and training, the commissioners who do the policy-writing, the mayors who use them for political capital, the wealthy business owners who fund the mayor and believe it's all necessary for profit, and the common person who believes they could suddenly reap the profit ... it's a self-perpetuating ecosystem.
@gothamgirlblue It was chilling when, during the George Floyd (et al) protests, I read up on the origins on policing. Amazingly, it's not JUST slave patrols. Police departments happily point to private security spooking potential thieves from ships importing raw materials from the Americas into England...which oh, more slavery.
But really, the thief deterrence says everything: Policing is about protecting capital from people, no matter who does the job, unfortunately.
