I believe this also.
I know that most empaths (yes, a real term ), and people with Bipolar and other depressive illnesses that I know are Democrats. The common theme is that all are very empathetic and compassionate, of course they feel more stress. They also tend to be more self aware and seek counseling, which flaws statistics. America has the HIGHEST suicide rate of any developed country.

The challenge is that we need the Dems as a bulwark against the fascists but the Dems are corrupted themselves.

We really need a concerted civil disobedience movement to force both parties to the left. People are just so brainwashed by the corporate media… It will take something revolutionary in the sense of it being something completely new that allows direct democratic action.

Every issue from gun control to housing to climate change to transportation comes down to our politics are corrupted. People know voting isn’t changing policy because both parties are beholden to corporate interests… just one isn’t completely sadistic.
The hopeful part is that sense is shared across the ideological spectrum.

I’m not sure what point you’re making about liberals skewing the numbers.
I known I hard disagree that we need another centrist party. I want an actually progressive party that will directly attack the ultra rich with income and wealth taxes, pack the court, codify abortion and gay rights, over turn citizens United, implement instant run off voting and a host of climate policies including a green tax shift.

@snowbank @martinvermeer @annietime My point is that numbers are skewed because liberals are more likely to get counseling, which results in more liberals being counted as “mentally ill”, because the statistics are taken from the number of people in counseling.
In other words, the studies are flawed from the beginning, because there really is no valid control group.
