The McDonald’s US regional president says a California proposal forcing businesses to pay a living wage is “job destroying”

He made $7.4 million last year.

McDonald’s has lucrative real estate holdings world wide and added to their assets with $15 BILLION in PPP funds distributed to the fast food giants

If you can’t pay a living wage and rely on the taxpayer to make you viable then you have a garbage business model

And I don’t want to pay for it.

@flexghost And McDonald's workers in Denmark make about $22.00 an hour.

For such a small country, wouldn't McDonald's opt not to do business there because they are allegedly "losing money"?

Consumers there aren't paying significantly more for the product either.

Wouldn't McDonald's also avoid blue states like MA since they have a $15 minimum wage?

Oh yeah, they don't because they fucking MAKE $$$ in states and countries that mandate higher wage

Is a Big Mac in Denmark Pricier Than in US?

McDonald's workers in Denmark make about $22 an hour, but how much do they pay for a Big Mac?

@Allistar well said and Thank you for the link ❤️

@Allistar @flexghost

How could McDonald's pull out of the lucrative high population BLUE states?

@AndyHarrison @Allistar I’m going to just say it… Wendy’s fries are better

@flexghost @Allistar

I don't' remember the last time I ate fast food, unless you count Subway or the Cuban place "La Bamba" close to me in Burbank.

@flexghost Definitely! It's a pity that this McDonald's "talking head" doesn't try to live on the same income his employees live on... If he did, you'd see how quick he changes his tune...
@customer228 I’m sure he’ll be on that dumb show where he does exactly that for a day
@flexghost Note that McDonald’s is IN the real estate business Food and toys are just a vehicle to that end
@flexghost
They’ve got good washrooms, which is the only thing I go in there for!…
@DrSprockets define good and what level of wall-feces is acceptable
@flexghost
Sorry about your experience! What I should said was, they’ve GOT washrooms as that’s all I’d go in there for!… My Bad!…

@flexghost

It's self-destructive for our society to tolerate public statements like that from business leaders.

Skip the Big Mac - eat the rich.

Make sociopathic greed shameful again.

@flexghost I get tired of the phrase "can't pay a living wage." It's "won't pay a living wage." When the C-suite folks are making more in a year than most of us will ever see in our lives, not paying your people decent wages is a choice.
@Soozcat @flexghost If they 'can't pay a living wage' their business model is not viable.
@flexghost I agree with you…. Basic minimum wage of at least $15.50/hr or better yet agree to a countrywide living wage that would break the poverty cycle….
@flexghost
They pay a living wage elsewhere around the world without any increase in their prices. Only in the US are we dumb enough to prop up their wage structure with our tax dollars to their underpaid employees.
@MHowell the media is owned by the corporations bellyaching so the media carries their false allegations
@flexghost
I would like to hear the Dems counter the R proposals to reduce Medicare and Social Security by proposing a minimum wage increase. Want to keep people off welfare and Medicaid? Pay them enough to live on without taxpayer support! (I realize that raising the minimum wage isn't going to zero out assistance, but we need to normalize talking about how $7.25/hr is corporate welfare, disguised.)
@flexghost and in the next breath he said, people just don’t wanna work, am I right?
@flexghost Those corporate hounds and industry lobby groups are so good with their bluster. But #McDonald’s in #California will survive profitably while paying a #LivingWage - as they do in Australia, Scandinavian countries and elsewhere - if their business models are any good.
@flexghost McDs was also bad about wage theft at least when I worked there so really F'em.
@flexghost How many employers don’t care if their employees have a place to bathe and get a good night’s sleep before they come to work?
@flexghost I haven't eaten at McDonalds in a long time. Pure junk.

@flexghost

Suddenly, the rules of the 'free' market don't apply, huh? This greed is destroying us all.

@flexghost

Just had a look, at our most expensive town to live in, there's headlines in the paper stating they're paying the huge rate of US$18.18 per hour. /s

@flexghost funny, job dignity is now job destroying.
