@Maggie I started the challenge with Bernardine Evaristo’s “Girl, Woman, Other,” and I’m loving it. Although it’s not an easy read for me: I lack some U.K. references, lingo, and the fact that it’s written in a hybrid of prose and poetry (English isn’t my native language). But the stories are incredible, and I spend a lot of time thinking after each one (some are very hard to read because it shows how hard it is to be a woman and the various types of obstacles created by men).

I'm also constantly seeking to learn more re. the history of diverse ppl. which isn't just fascinating but important & inspires one to be more active, so I'm really glad to hear about your experience; because I know, there're many who aren't interested in learning/changing things if their own lives aren't affected.
In addition, it’s probably sometimes easier bc my first language is English, so it's also nice to know that you don't allow the language barrier to limit you

Yes, also schools in other countries e.g. the UK include the topics of some history months in their curriculum. Hopefully, the classes will inspire/ encourage some children to find out more in the future.
Unfortunately, many ppl. would like to prevent others from learning the entire truth re. the history of indigenous/ marginalised groups & the role their nations played.
