Next month is #BlackHistoryMonth - created in 1926 to recognize the contributions of #AfricanAmericans to U.S. history. #Canada & #Germany now celebrate this in Feb. along with the #US But #Ireland ,the #Netherlands & the #UK in Oct.
Do #history months have a lasting impact? Do they move all #POC & some "white" ppl. to truelly refllect & change or are many mainly concerned with their own campaigns of recognition?

@Maggie Well, it does have effects on school curriculum in the US -- a couple of these do, but not all.

Yes, also schools in other countries e.g. the UK include the topics of some history months in their curriculum. Hopefully, the classes will inspire/ encourage some children to find out more in the future.
Unfortunately, many ppl. would like to prevent others from learning the entire truth re. the history of indigenous/ marginalised groups & the role their nations played.
